Just a quick comment on this one. I've commented on the subject before on a prior thread, and I'll reiterate it here.

It's realism within a defined universe.

I'll use an RPG game by White Wolf Gaming Studios called Werewolf: The Apocalypse.

This is a game in which Werewolves, spirits, a spirit world, monsters and evil truly exist. Yet, it is set in a "Gothic-Punk" reflection of our own world. You assume it to be similar to our world, a bit darker of course, but our world... just with the supernatural element to it.

Hell, they have books called "Rage Across (Insert real country/city)" for some of its suppliments.

It's not hard to look at Guild Wars as a setting on a fictional continent( continents now) during a mideaval period with an added supernatural element.

Been reading this post, so might as well throw in my 2 cents

Knight/ascalon armor global absorption is a FIX. Period.
I feel bad for those who recently bought that one piece of knight/ascalon 15k or fissure boot. But. the bug/exploit/glitch has been fixed, just move on and find another armor combination for your warrior.

Sup absorption rune change to physical reduction only. Although I don't really like this change. But,it seem to be fair since it is the only class-exclusive sup rune that doesn't has a negative effect(health penalty).

As for shield reduction, I really against this change.

Shield shouldn't block or reduce damage on magical spell/projectile?
Well, if a crafter/monster can craft/drop a weapon that shoot magical projectile, it seem "logical" that the crafter/monster able to craft/drop a shield that reduce magical damage.

However, like Does-it-Matter mention in his post, guildwars is a defined universe. If Anet made a new defination that shield shouldn't have magic damage reduction, guess I will play by this new rule.

PS: Btw, I just complete raisu palace with a pug and my warrior operate just fine.

Cheers !!

This is an EXTREMELY bad update I agree, warriors should have all around protection again. I do kinda agree about the person on page one in referance to the W/Me thing. Elemental Resistance will counter a lot of elemental damage, +40 armor in any area tends to do that, and your physical resistance from these shields, armor pieces, etc. would help to counter the removal of some physical armor. That's a suggestion for some warriors who dont want to strike.

Anet has gone a bit too far on this nerf, Anet has once again made the dr. jeckyl mr.hyde-like change into Anerf. Nerfing completely fair things isn't right at all. Warrior shouldn't even be attacking other warrior in the first place, why would we need physical damage reduction outside of PvE, NOWHERE.

I have another char that's a war btw, and im going on strike too.

/signs this well thought out thread

If this sentence took from you 2 sec to write ..think how much time it will take from casual player to change his 15 K armor..or think how much time it will take for someone has FOW armor need to be change..

Your words can't express how much these casual ppl will suffer again.

It doesnt matter if the player that took advantage of the global bug was casual or not, it makes no difference that the player is casual or hardcore...the fact is that the player did it. I dont want to say that it's punishment or that people deserve it...but that's what happens when people take advantage of something that was unintended and now that it's fixed, how can people cry foul?

But people do have a right to complain that ANET took so damn long to fix the bug...

ok got anouther reply and I think their avoiding the subject first time was automated email second was anouther one third was them telling me about forums so i sent her all 4 websites and then here's 4

Hello Tien,

Thank you for getting back to us. The reason why we keep bringing up the same general sort of reply to your suggestions is simply because the absolute best way to get your word to the developers is to use the forums we have mentioned several times. We know it may seem counterintuitive in some ways, but Guild Wars is not set up like your average game.

While there is an ongoing dialog between the Guild Wars Support staff and our developers, our developers give a strong preference to suggestions made on fan forum boards. The capacity for these forums to collate information and bring together people who might not otherwise raise their voices in support of a particular feature is a powerful tool, as is the ability for the community to sift and concentrate suggestions into the very best version of what that suggestion is capable of being.

These forums have been an invaluable part of our development since early alpha phases, and they continue to be so. As stated on our previous response even though you may not receive a direct response to a post, our developers are always reading new posts and watching the community response, allowing them to get a feel for the issues and features that are truly the most important to players.

Kind regards,

GM Stefania

Im sorry but what?

shes basicly talking on about forums and avoiding my questions about FoW armor refunds or why they changed runes and shields. I can't help but get a bit frustrated on how they are avoiding my concerns.

I mean take gailes reply she didn't reply to shields or runes either just the armor which we have all agreed is fine so...

You are complaining about your tanking abilities, right? I could easily get 13 strength and 16 Tactics, and i wont use any weapons really.. Why?.. Because you want to tank god dammit! NOT deal any dmg..

Tien Ak: Are you sure that it isnt because Anet dont give a s---. A change is change.

Warrior with shield can easily get over 100 AL vs elemental. So how does elemental mod on weapon bypass all his armor? Get a clue kid.

Take the normal Wars armor set up for PvP. Glads chest, leggings, KD gloves, and boots of your choice. Now lets compare that to the armor options for other classes.

That's 80 AL vs elemental and other types of none armor ignoring dmg (chaos dmg from a wand is not armor ignoring). Since you can control what type of dmg you deal (elementals are the exception) you are NEVER going to hit a war with physical dmg because they get +20 AL which is a 1/4 reduction in dmg. Only thing war armor is good against now is physical dmg. Every class on the game can deal elemental dmg or armor ignoring. Now lets compare it to other armor set ups for the other classes.

Ranger
70 AL base
+10 stance
+30 elemental dmg
That's 80 AL base vs physical and 110 vs elemental

Again ranger is the same as war just reversed. You can control what type of dmg you deal so you are NEVER going to hit a ranger with elemental dmg exept elementals (they have no other choice of dmg).

Monk
60 AL base
+10 while enchanted
+15 while conditions (this is a global mod that was not "fixed")
+5 enchanted off-hand
Staff with Def head and wrapping +10 AL

So a monk can acheive 95 AL vs all types of dmg that are none armor ignoring. That's better than what a war can acheive with the norm pvp set up under the best circumstances. Even if you don't use the Def head and wrapping you end up with 75 AL which is only a 1/16 more dmg compared to 80 AL. Keeping up yet?

Elementalist
60 AL base
+10 while enchanted
+5 enchanted off-hand
+10 Staff head and wrapping

Again this is 80 AL vs all types of dmg. Since Ele's don't need the energy head or the enchanting wrapping this is not an uncommon choice. Beginning to see a trend here?

Assassin
70 AL base
+15 while attacking
+5 def daggers

Assassins are a little bit different since they can only def against physical dmg and only certain types of physical dmg. The +`15 while attacking is their best choice since you need that extra armor when you shadow step behind lines to kill a target. While attacking that's 90 AL vs all types of none armor ignoring dmg. While not attacking that's 75 AL as before is a 1/16 more dmg compared to 80 AL.

Necromancer
60 AL base, 70 (tormentors)
+15 MM armor (if using a MM)
+10 Def head and wrapping
+5 enchanted off-hand

Tormentors is still the best choice for necos. Smiters are running around but with the recent AoE nerf you will see less balth aura so no need to fear zealots its fire. With tormentors and Def staff that's 80 AL. If your in PvE you can acheive 95 AL.

Mesmer
60 AL base
+10 enchanted or stance
+10 Def staff
+5 Def enchanted off-hand
What do we have here? You gave every AL mod known to mankind to each class then set warriors with basic 80 + 20 glad armor.

Your blatant attempt to give yourself material to whine about by twisting facts is borderline lying.

1. If warrior you use to compare is using energy armor, so should other classes.

2. Let's see what warrior can get:

80+20 glads
+5 sword
+16 shield with +10 AL vs elemental +45 HP when in stance (and you can keep Rush up all the time in combat)

Oh look 111 AL vs elemental.

And if I twinked the armor, I would choose sentinel and we'd have 131 AL.

3. If you wanna tank in pve you can get some stances and dolyak.

4. 5 AL less is not 1/16 = 6.25% more damage but rather 9.05%

5. Warriors get an extra rune and also gloves that make KD last 3 sec.

hey i support this strike.. not becasue im a warrior (im not) but because it should make it easier to get a good warrior in pugs! all the wammos that got run through the game with their cookie cutter builds and inability to adapt will be on strike.

the good warriors that actually played through the game and know how the skills work will just say "meh" rethink their builds and strategies and be back to kicking arse within half hour!

yay all you wammos with ya cookie cutter builds go on strike!!! it will make it so much easier to get a decent warrior in pugs.

Just what i was thinking when i read twickys post, im thinking he either thinks you can equip both a staff and a focii, or hes trying to prove his point via biased statistics.
If you want to post crap then atleast do it properly, something like this:

Warrior AL:
Base = 0 (Armor completely removed)
Weapon (fiery flame spitter) (-10 while attacking)
Stance = Frenzy (double damage)
Using healing sig (AL -40)

Monk
Base 95 (combo of all armors)
Staff (+10AL)
Shield (+16AL)
Focii (+5AL)
Dolyak Sig (+20AL)
Watch Yourself (+20AL)

Lolz look anet has nerfed warriors :O

Post Update on Fow armor

Ok this one isn't going to make anyone happy

Hello Tien,

Thank you for contacting Guild Wars Customer Support. We'd like to assure you that we have already provided your feedback on this issue to our QA and development teams, and that both groups look at player feedback carefully when planning future updates / in response to updates that have been made. Forum threads such as the one you linked to are particularly useful to the development team, to gauge the response to any changes they've made.

I'm afraid that the development team thought the armour changes necessary, to properly balance them against other sets. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide compensation if changes are made to existing items in-game. We apologise for any frustration or inconvenience that this may cause to you and any other players affected.

Kind regards,
Senior GM Max

Now you really think im going to say "ok no probs i'll go Farm for 2 months for something you couldn't be arsed to change a year ago"

I won't take no for an answer to be honest this isn't my fault this Arena nets a year is a heck of long time to change to change a bug thats been common warrior armor for ages.

My advice is from now on lets keep armor bland instead of mixing them to create a armor that suits a paticular build, and if you do make sure its 1.5k armor to save money.

but personaly I think this is a poor excuse of customer care some of us have doughts that Arena net care I wasn't one of them now however...I am bit.
I give em ideas they put in their games that make people want to buy heck I remeber posting back when I started my warrior about knights saying they should make armorers be able to pick what armor you want and stats and look at the armorers in factions now. I ask for a simple favor and they don't give a damn

I like the Guild wars saga alot and I will buy further chapters but Im not going to mix match Fow again or even get it again to be honest to much time and effort for nothing.

Anyway enough moaning i've sent them a good email back and will be awaiting their reply

I'm a wammo and I'm not striking... I'm just re-thinking my skills/runes/tactics... I love playing w/? builds and have great respect for all opinions aired here (well most of 'em) but strikes and stuff not my cup of vodka I'm afraid.

I've got the armor from marhans grotto - the 15k glad's and I won't be rushig out and changing it any time soon, I think it is funky as hell

My point exactly. He likes to throw numbers around of how the game mechanic works and yet he has no idea how to make a proper statistical analysis of all the data.
